Every vacation needs a day to regroup

… and that is what yesterday, May 1st, was for me.

Marty left my place after coffee, bound for work back in the city, and I got busy myself.

I love staying in someone’s home because I CAN nest so comfortably. Being a Taurus means hearth and home is very important to me and I needed a day to settle myself. Laundry, kitchen cleanup, watering plants, writing my blog, catching up on e-mail, checking on finances, organizing my stuff …. just like being at home. Which, by the way, I am ready to return to.

I also spent a few HOURS making decisions and reservations for mom’s funeral in Chicago and Paco (Kevin’s) college graduation in Cincinnati. Both events are 2 consecutive weekends. Thanks to my supportive neighbors and cat sitter, I decided to just make 2 separate, albeit short, trips. My American miles will pretty much be depleted when I’m done, but it seems smarter than paying big bucks to fly at the last minute.

By about 2pm I was starving so I walked across the street to check out this area …

Boats boats and MORE boats! Oh Dennis….I am so grateful we were boaters!

Money, money, money here. Talk about California Dreamin’ …

I found a very crowded and loud restaurant called LeGarage and enjoyed a salad and WATER at the bar. Whew …. I needed a day to dry out!

Thanks to Denice’s advice, I visited The Bay Model. It’s a GIANT hydraulic model, built in the 50’s, of the entire bay and Delta system. They painstakingly built this so they could study the flow and effect of both fresh and salt water. Of course now computers have taken over that job so this model is no longer needed or used. But the US Army Corps of Engineers has kept it open for visitors. It is truly fascinating and a place where one could spend ALL day.

And it was FREE!

I circled my way around the marinas before heading back to my place …

Yep … I’m up on that hill

… and enjoyed a quiet afternoon writing the Birthday post and eating leftovers.

Yep …. it felt just like being home. It was a beautiful way to spend May Day.

Lis. & I went to water basin model many years ago..fascinating place
Sounds like you are having a great time

Sometimes when we travel to several locations we go to consecutive places because it avoids back & forth one time

    1. I agree. But these next two trips are too long to bunch together for ANOTHER 10 days away. Unlike you, I still have clients and now my entire life to handle by myself. Not to mention my sweet kitty. Oh well … very grateful for airline miles.
