Yep ~ that was the plan when we booked our FIRST time at an All-Inclusive Adults Only Resort in Playa Del Secreto, just 25 miles south of the Cancun Airport.
We were there to celebrate the one-year wedding anniversary of Dennis’ niece Kristen, and her wife, Holli.

Kristen’s parents also attended; Lynda (Dennis’ sister) and Pete, from South Carolina.

We arrived on Sunday morning, after driving an hour+ north from our AirBnB down in Tulum. I was still dealing with my Montezuma’s Revenge and was glad to just make it to the resort unaffected. After the fancy check-in process, including a glass of champagne, we got settled in our room and then headed down to the pool. Unfortunately, I was unable to put on a bathing suit due to my “delicate condition”, so I stayed dressed and just put my feet in the pool. In the meantime, Dennis proceeded to enjoy the benefits of limitless cocktails with the rest of the family. The procession of pictures below shares just a hint of the fun that was had (this 3-image slideshow must be seen on the website to view).
Unfortunately, by late afternoon, Dennis hit the wall and we never did made it to dinner that first night. I ordered some room service for our dinner, and by the next morning, Dennis had The Revenge himself. I, on the other hand, was feeling better because I had taken an Imodium when we arrived at the resort. So on Monday, the tables were turned with Dennis being sick and me feeling better. Oy vey.
Dennis did rally, however, for The Official Anniversary Evening on Monday, July 26th.

A lovely celebration was enjoyed by all with many toasts to Kristen and Holli’s happiness!

A slight hitch in the plans was a dress code that we were unaware of: men must wear closed-toed shoes. Thank goodness Pete had an extra pair of shoes with him, albeit a little small for Dennis’ feet. He had to squeeze into those shoes for both of the fancy dinners we enjoyed.

On Tuesday morning, as Kristen and Holli enjoyed their ocean front room, the four of us had some quiet time …

The ladies treated all of us to a manicure/pedicure session in the afternoon …

And then …. another family first …. The Hookah Lounge! (again …. this slideshow can only be seen on the website)
And then alas ~ the final morning before we left the resort with Lynda and Pete. We all met on the beach for sunrise and said our good-byes until the next time. (another slideshow)
And gratefully …. everyone returned home safe, maybe a little tired, and recovering full health again.
The All-Inclusive Experience is lovely and pretty darn fun if one can partake in all it has to offer. Personally, I think it would be great fun as a girl’s long weekend. Or, on second thought, everyone should just come to our home and party because I am married to the Best Cabana Man around!
Happy Summer of Love, everyone. INJOY!

Nice! Unfortunately internet not strong enough to view videos, but I enjoyed your final post from Mexico!!
Sun just came out here. How wonderful!! This morning I finished up dealing with my fish stock and will put the Seafood Chowder together on Wednesday. I am now making a chicken stock for some kind of soup. Also going to make the carrot, ginger coconut soup. Stock for that is already made. I want to have a few things prepared before the kids arrive and soup is always comforting on a cold and blustery day!
Later baby!!
