Day One – The Cleanse Begins

WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE Hippocrates Health Institute is!  Even after only half a day here, and going through only ONE of our orientations, we are both blown away and with a little “deer in headlights” feeling.  There is SO MUCH going on and so many choices of how we want to heal ourselves!

But let me back up a little and just say the flight here yesterday was flawless, and our simple hotel room by the airport was all we needed.  We enjoyed leftover cauliflower-crust veggie pizza that we had created the last night at home, and yes, a bottle of red wine.  We savored every drop as we will surely be alcohol free for the next 3 weeks.

We arrived around 11AM and as we sipped coconut water DIRECTLY out of a coconut, we received our canvas bag of educational materials, water bottle (not as nice as our Canyon Ranch bottles, Anabel!), and a handy neck pouch for our ID, key, etc.  We then went straight to medical where our vitals were taken, and a few minutes relaxing in a TO-DIE-FOR massage chair.

Oh ~ and get this, girlfriends.  We weighed ourselves at home before we left for the airport, and in the last 10 weeks of Dennis’ ordeal, I had already lost 6 pounds!  I know it is a combo of hospital time with Dennis, walking 10,000 steps a day, and REALLY minimizing the wine.  I have high hopes for my weight to continue dropping because …

IT IS ALL RAW FOOD.  And I mean RAW …

This was our first lunch ~ with 3 weeks of MORE!

Truth be told, we are not big meat eaters and we eat a lot of salads anyway.  But this is SPROUTS, and lots of them.  Hey …. WHERE’S THE CHEESE?

We came back to our room, which is lovely and in a private part of the 55 acres, and started to go through our materials.  OMG!  So much to read, learn, and decide what we want to do.

Unlike yoga school, WE CHOOSE what we want; nothing is forced upon us.  Quite empowering in itself.

The weather is just fine.  Much like our monsoons at home, it rained this afternoon and then stopped.  It’s not crazy humid, no bugs, and the AC works great in our room.

So enough for today.  We are having our fasting blood draws in the AM, the final orientation (so much to see here!), and then the balance of the day will be lectures, more raw foods, and green drinks.

Let the detox begin!

I think you guys look great! You have both been through a lot in a short amount of time…and Dennis!!!…your color looks great, your eyes are clear, and your skin appears to have “bounce back”, (and only healthy people have that)! I’m excited for your journey at HHI. Looks a little like college days with all the paper, (but no traditional style TGIFs). I’m looking forward to seeing what breakfast looks like!

Did not know Dennis was in hospital. Hope all is better. How do I work it out you or I are going out of town when I call?

Lisa & I are in Cleveland starting sun for 12 days, & we had just gotten back from a 4 week trip to Amsterdam & Israel Cleveland had a baby so we are here to be with 6 kids

Where are you? L love following your blog but spend more time enjoying yourselves

Have a good time. I am not sure if I could subsist on salads!!

Being the go-getters and positive peeps you are, they will probably want to hire you as consultants by the time you leave!! Smooches and hugs from Carns & Deb in the meantime!

    Hi Guys,
Dennis…you look amazing! The food….not so much. 😉
And to the “Queen of Paperless”…I had to chuckle when I saw you completely engulfed in all of that PAPER!! Have you made them a list of ways for them to “cleanse” (purge) the paper from their lives? Happy 2nd Day! Hugs…

    1. YEAH, WOW IS RIGHT. Just like when I went to Yoga School, this is INTENSE. Best way for me to learn, however. And it takes 21 days to change a habit. I think of you often and am so grateful that you are covering my yoga classes so I can be here. MUCH THANKS AND LOVE.
