The Road Less Traveled

… certainly does explain the experience here at Hippocrates Health Institute.  I’ve read and experienced many healthy protocols in my life, but what I am learning here is incredible.  And the people and assistance being offered …. OVER THE TOP.

I will go into more detail later, but suffice it to say the days are FULL. We each are working into our own routine and choosing food, exercise, lectures, consultations, treatments, and walking time that work for each of us individually.  Both of us are enjoying our quiet times alone.

Back to basics:  the room is ample and the bed is INCREDIBLY comfortable.  There are 4 guest rooms in this house with a big deck right outside of our door.   For Robb and Anabel …. the name of our house is PUNTA!!!!  The second door from our room leads into a shared space with an far infrared sauna, hot and cold water dispenser, various teas, and a refrigerator.  There’s only one other person staying in the house right now (Jamie) and we hardly ever see him.  Here’s a visual of the sauna and our door into the shared space …

Unfortunately, due to Dennis’ recent pacemaker implant, he cannot use this sauna.  But I’m enjoying it every morning and evening for about 20 minutes, with an intention of increasing the time and heat.  Right now I’ve only been up to 120 degrees, but I can increase it to 135 degrees.  You know me ….  slow and steady.  This morning I realized I could practice some easy yoga stretches in the sauna to wake up my body, and it made me think of all of my Yogi Friends.

It takes 5-10 minutes to walk to just about everything and the 55 acres grounds are immaculate.  It’s a very beautiful and peaceful place.

Wednesday (today) is a fasting day with ONLY liquids.  Of course everyone is on their own suggested protocol, so I did eat lunch today (Dennis did not).   However, EVERYDAY we start by drinking lemon water at 7:00 am, wheatgrass juice at 8:00 am, and green juice and super blue-green algae  at 10:00 am.  There is no breakfast service as they believe the body heals best without solid food between 3:00 am and noon.  There goes my “Fruit Before Noon” theory as I have learned that is simply eating SOLID SUGAR.

The Vegan (raw veggie) buffet lunch takes place from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm.  YES… more of the same juice drinks are served again at 4:00 pm.  The Vegan (raw veggie) buffet dinner is served from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

And boy oh boy …. DOES RAW FOOD STICK TO MY TEETH!

With a very flexible schedule each day, we can arrange a number of complimentary medical, mental and physical consultations.  I have many technology modalities that I can use on a daily or weekly basis, while Dennis is limited due to his pacemaker.

Our internal body system is slowly getting acclimated to the change in schedule, beverages and food items.  As of this 4th day, we’re doing pretty well going through the detox.  Remember… NO caffeine, NO coffee, NO alcohol, NO meat, NO fish, NO poultry, NO dairy, NO fruit, NO to any food that produces sugar, NO processed foods and NO anything that produces carbohydrates.  Just the raw, ma’am.

But the good news …. since we’ve arrived, I’ve already LOST 2.5 POUNDS!

With Love,
Diana

  1. That darn “Fit for Life” book! That NO list seems pretty intense; however, it seems that you are gaining (knowledge, strength, self-efficacy) way more than you are giving up.
And congrats on the weight loss 🙂 Keep going, my friends! I believe in you both!

    You are both doing great. I’ve been studying HHI a lot this week. It makes so much sense. So proud of you! I went to Jamba Juice and bought 6oz of wheatgrass juice…just to “see”…almost Fifteen Bucks!!! (I guess you guys will learn to “kitchen garden”-eh?) Keep going. Get those bodies good and detoxed and clean. :0}

    1. Hey Girl ~ We heard that same thing about wheatgrass prices from another guest. Somebody said $4.50 for a shot! The Juice Hut here is open fro 5:30 am to 11 pm and one can go in and juice up a shot whenever they want! Great hands-on experiene working with a juicer and having the grass all grown and ready to juice in a big refridgerator. It tastes a lot better than I expected, tho maybe people have said their grass here is quite sweet. So incredible … just GRASS and it is considered MEDICINE here. I have dabbled in growing sprouts already … just not sure how to keep Mr. Muggins out of it!!

Jamba Juice grass was pretty tasty. (I had the 2nd half of my gum surgery yesterday, and bought it to hold in my mouth for quicker healing…and today, I sure feel better than I did after phase 1! This stuff works!) There are lots of “How to grow wheatgrass” videos on line. One from HHI ~ some with dirt ~ some in just water (which most appeals to me).I see HHI sells the seed. I’d buy from them. Does Mr. Muggins go as high as the top of the fridge? No worries…where there’s a will…(we owe each other a chat anyway).

YES… figuring out how and where to do the wheatgrass and sprouting in our home (or outside) will be a little challenge. We’ll start easy, get the right gear and buy seeds, Rome wasn’t built in 1 day!

What an interesting post! You both certainly are challenging your bodies and expanding beyond what we have believed is “normal”. You are both courageous!! Much love

    1. Yes, girlfriend, I have thought of you may times while being here. Being “raw” is a discipline that is so foreign to anything we’ve done before. I was a vegetarian for years, but this is another world. The amazing part to me is learning about the nutrition of all of the sprouts. Sunflower sprouts are PACKED with protein and make up most of my plate each day. You would LOVE all of the different lettuces they serve. We’re attending hands-on food prep classes today. Just focusing on staying in the moment and not getting ahead of myself. Hope all is well in Ireland. With Love.

It sounds like a very interesting experience. How long are you going to be there and how did you hear about it. I think I eating would be difficult.

    1. Hey Girl …. crazy thing about this place. When I had cancer 11 years ago, their magazine started arriving out of the blue and has ever since. I had always told Dennis that if my cancer reoccurred I would come here. What a surprise to be here for Dennis. We are doing the 21-day Life Transformation Program.

I would LOVEto have my own Infrared sauna! They are so great! I bought a package of them to detox myself.

We recently started growing our own sprouts (at the suggestion of my teachers in the YMCA Livestrong program for cancer patients) and now you have me talking about wheatgrass!

LOTS of change here. Sounds like if you applied even a fraction of what you’re learning your life and health would be dramatically different.

Hope your brains don’t pop at the seams from all the knowledge! Lol

    Love you both

We’re already planning areas in our home that can be used to grow sprouts and wheatgrass. We plan to buy a used, good quality juicer and dehydrator on Craigslist or e-Bay. We’ll also look at Amazon. We’ll be cleaning out the frig, freezer and pantry. It will be a big shopping and food change to go vegan (raw). The instructors have suggest starting 80 % vegan (raw) and 20% vegan (baked or low heat prep). Certainly a transition! Love you

    2. Yes, I’d love to have one too but it would not be fair to Dennis since he can’t use it. Maybe I can find the same as you down in Sahuarita. Our little town IS growing …. we even have a SPROUTS market now! The Universe is lining it all up!

Successful day in the kitchen yesterday. I found organic grass at Raley’s, and snipped it into the Nutribullet (like chives), added a little filtered water. (We have a reverse osmosis under the sink for drinking water and we ran it over to the ice maker) Voila! I plan to incorporate some of this new info into our lives. I have a juicer but not one that will do grass, so this will work for now. Learning lots from you guys!!! Hugs and Kisses!!!

    1. That is great! Every positive step counts! FYI: They recommend a slow-speed auger type of juicer because blending at high speeds greatly reduces the nutritional value. I will let you know what juicer we end up buying. GOOD TIP SHARED WITH US: Look on EBay or Craigslist. Many people start this lifestyle and then give up to the pressure of SAD. I already found a dehydrator on Craigs List in Tucson for ony $100!

Oh……Okaaaaay…makes sense. Picked up an auger style juicer thru Amazon. 4-1/2 stars and the price point won’t keep me up all night. I found the potassium mg on line so Mike can have a few shots per week, and I know how much is safe for his kidneys He had his colonoscopy today ~ they removed 10!!! pollups (sp?), so THAT got his attention, and all of the sudden he’s interested in the “healthier” path that I take…
I can’t seem to find what you would dehydrate…(I’ll bet it’s not beef jerky…)
