The day arrived … 65!

All I wanted for my birthday was a beautiful day and my first ever walk on the Golden Gate Bridge. And my wish came true!

Even though we had stayed up way too late the night before, Marty and I still woke up early to this gorgeous sunrise …

We made our way down to Fred’s for breakfast and took a leisurely stroll through town. A short Lyft ride over the Bridge and we hooked up with our friend, Denice. She’s lived in San Francisco for a long time, is very well-read, and knows A LOT about this area. She is a MOST EXCELLENT tour guide!

And our weather …. spectacular!

Denice is quite the hiker and boy, did she walk us all over! I had over 22,000 steps in this one day!

It is quite the experience walking on the bridge. It is LOUD and windy and a little unsettling when you look over the edge. And looking up with the clouds moving quickly gave me quite the feeling of vertigo. Some of the bike riders were moving a little too fast; to stay safe everyone needs to stay in their own lane. It reminded me of bungee jumping in New Zealand. Scary, exciting and fun!

There are many lovely views of the bridge and Denice knows them all. She’s very familiar with The Presidio and its history. We drove over to Ghirardelli Square and had lunch with another beautiful view, and then walked along the water and talked.

We drove back to the base of the bridge and found a great spot to honor Dennis and spread some of his ashes. It was very touching and auspicious to do on my birthday. Thank you, Marty and Denice.

We got back to my place for a little vino, cheese, and crackers, and Denice’s sister joined us. I was too pooped to go for a fancy dinner, so we walked down the road to Bar Bocce. Simple dinner and then of course Marty and I stayed up way too late again!

But hey … I’m glad I saw my first early morning of my 66th year.

I hope this link works. Please let me know if it doesn’t.

Great pictures for a wonderful day/experience. Your comment from the friend above freaked me a little. Did you know my dad’s name is Richard English so that is what I saw. You make me want to go more and do more. Love ya.
