With a population of over 3 million people, and probably even MORE than that visiting right now, I’m impressed with how well the city still moves. I can certainly tell I’m not in Sahuarita anymore!

We made the most of our Friday here. We got a little bit of a late start since Holli and Kristen had a hell of a time getting here due to storms in Chicago causing them to miss their connection in Rome. They arrived almost 12 hours late …. 1am on Friday instead of 1pm on Thursday. But all is well that ends well, and traveling these days requires fluidity and patience.

We started Friday with a full breakfast at God’s Restaurant. Seemed fitting for what seemed like a miracle to get us all here.

By default, I was designated the navigator, so I was happy when we found the Hop On Hop Off bus. Crazy though …. no one ever checked that we actually bought tickets!

We hopped off at a big Flea Market and enjoyed our first break of the day. It did sprinkle a little while we enjoyed a cold one (and ALWAYS a coffee for Holli and Kristen) under this big umbrella and on a couch.

Our next stop was the Acropolis Museum. We all needed a little more education about the relics of the Acropolis so I was happy to go here first. One could spend an entire day really seeing everything.

The day was getting away from us so we had to hustle to the Acropolis and climb to the top (they start closing it at 7:30pm). I’m SO GRATEFUL that we made it up there! I didn’t realize that the temples up there are OLDER than the pyramids of Egypt, Stonehenge, and the Great Wall of China!

We stayed at the top until closing time (8pm) and walked down to a rooftop dinner in Plaka. The memory of watching the Acropolis lights come on while sipping a Greek red wine, will remain with me.

So grateful for Google maps to lead us back to our apartment. I LOVE the narrow streets with MANY bars and restaurants. After a few missed turns, we finally made it back to our neighborhood, with a gelato stop along the way.

We got home around 10:30 and then talked until after 2am! Nothing to do this morning (Saturday) until 11:30 when our Uber takes us to our cruise ship. Interesting note …. they only allow 4 person cabs here. So we have 2 Ubers arriving for the 5 of us.

It’s around 9am now (we are 10 hrs ahead of Tucson), so maybe I need to get my act together. I’m really happy I slept in the living room so I can get up and enjoy the morning without disturbing the others. As usual, I overpacked, so I need to squish my stuff back into my suitcase. I’m looking forward to getting into my own stateroom and unpacking for the week and washing my hair!
