Rain and sun again

I woke up Tuesday AM, right after midnight, to the most powerful DOWNPOUR. It reminded me of the windless, take no prisoners rain we experienced in Costa Rica. Since I slept in the living room of their one bedroom timeshare, I had a big bank of doors that opened to the lanai. I slept SO WELL and will always remember the sound and energy of that rain.

The rain continued through much of Tuesday, but I didn’t mind. Deb and I decided to venture out late morning and I was amazed at the road flooding and very muddy ocean surf. But it didn’t stop us from getting our nails done and trying to check out this interesting looking store …

Too bad it wasn’t open

Deb and I also went to Ross and I have NEVER experienced such an efficient and talented shopper. In a VERY SHORT time, Deb picked out for me a purse, 2 sports bras, 2 bathing suits, and flower hair clips. And ALL of it for a total of $65!!! So glad I left some extra room in my suitcase!

Armed with burritos from Taco Bell, we returned home to Harvey, and the 3 of us simply hung out and watched the rain, talked, read, watched some crazy Slutview TV show, and learned about the dark side of Hugh Hefner, The Playboy Club, and 1-900 numbers from the 80’s. It was actually quite entertaining!

Wednesday we needed to pack up and move to their 2 bedroom timeshare. The forecast was for the rain to continue through the day, but gratefully they were WRONG! The move went without a hitch and we were moved and settled before 11am. Deb and I headed to the beach for a walk, but lots of debris had washed up and made walking difficult (and painful). So we hung by the pool for awhile, and then we drove down to Wailea and checked out what used to be The Intercontinental Hotel where Dennis and I stayed 29 years ago. It is COMPLETELY redesigned and mega fancy, so the only thing I recognized was the coast line.

Dennis loved it here so Deb scattered some of his ashes into the ocean.

After a casual but tasty fish supper, we made it back to the shore and enjoyed my last sunset on Maui.

Nothing lasts forever … time to start working my way back to the desert.
