Alaska …. North to the future

Friday, August 9, 2024

To be honest, I was hesitant  about doing a blog for this TRIP OF A LIFETIME (for me).  Not sure why I felt that way …. But here I am on our flight from Tucson to Seattle and feeling motivated.  Or maybe this is more fun than being a little frustrated over being unable to pull up the Delta entertainment on my phone.  Whatever it takes to find motivation.

I was invited on this Royal Princess Alaskan 7 day inside passage cruise (plus 3 days land experience) from my BIRTHDAY SISTER, Lynda Makes.  Dennis’ sister and I have celebrated 36 birthdays together since we are EXACTLY 4 months apart (I am April 30 and Lynda is August 30 of the Great Year 1954).  Since this is SEVENTY for both of us, how could I say no to her invitation???

Therefore (trying not to start every sentence with “so”…) here I sit on the first leg of our journey to Vancouver BC.  I’m  traveling with my very dear sister/friend, Ivonne.  I love this woman and our easy and similar traveling styles.  We even have matching travel gear!!!

Of course we had to start our trip with the TRAVEL TRADITION.

Bloody Mary’s of course!

We had a few hours in Seattle before the final leg to Vancouver, so we spent it at Lou Lou.  Good food and GREAT MUSIC at this place!

Seattle clam chowder and salad

Both flights were without incident, made it through the Canadian airport process, and Ubered to our hotel, The Douglas.  Fancy schmancy place, but we were tired so didn’t get to enjoy the amenities.

Only one problem …. They have a dance club off the lobby and it was LOUD.  Even loud in our room until 3am.  Ivonne didn’t seem to mind but it challenged my ability to sleep.

Other side note …. the bathroom has a window into the room so in order to not disturb each other, we didn’t turn the light on in there.  Grateful for the light from my cellphone screen!

May our troubles remain so small.

Grateful to have arrived safely

P S.  In the light of day I discovered that bathroom window to the room has a pull down shade!  Oh well …. just adds to our experience!

And what a view from the bed!
