After a very restless night, we arrived in Whittier, a port town. The ship actually docked around midnight so the rocking and rumbling were done. That is my favorite part of cruising and sleeping on a ship.
When I looked out from our balcony this morning, we were completely socked in. We could have been ANYWHERE!
The rest of our group are on a different land package, so they had to leave the ship at 6:15am! I’m grateful that our disembarkation wasn’t until 9am.
We boarded our bus, and only 2 minutes away from the ship in Whittier, we saw this!
We had to wait about 15 minutes for our turn to go through the 2.5 mile one-way tunnel that was blasted through the mountain.
We had a comfortable 90-minute scenic drive into Anchorage. We actually had empty seats on this coach so we could all stretch out. Plus it had a head!
We stopped for a lunch break in Anchorage, and our driver suggested this food stand with spicy reindeer hotdogs.
We arrived at the McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge at exactly 3:33pm. And it started raining.
Tomorrow we travel to Denali National Park
