We began the day by taking a short drive to Paquime, a designated world UNESCO site. The settlement began around 1130AD and was abandoned around 1450. It is thought that these people were related to the Anasazi of the southwest. This Mogollon culture used many feathers, so instead of traveling a great distance south to obtain them, they chose to raise their own macaw.

We enjoyed visiting the site and the Musem first thing in the morning, as the weather was cooler and they allowed us entry to the site before the public.

We had another 3 hour rocky ride to Chihuahua City. As we approached, it reminded me a lot of Tucson.
Chihuahua City is the capital of the state of Chihuahua. Population is one million plus. I had no idea how large and modern this city would be.
We stopped for lunch and continued onto the Pancho Villa Museum and home.

Pancho died in 1923, and even though he was assassinated, maybe his death was REALLY due to having 25 wives?! Don’t quote me ….

We checked into the MARRIOTT around 5pm in a lovely area of Chihuahua City called District 1. And we had a KING SIZE BED, which was a wonderful upgrade from the 2 double beds yesterday. After a relaxing cocktail of Jack Daniel’s in our room, we headed out to explore the area.
We actually didn’t get very far as we found this lovely and non crowded spot next to our hotel ….

We eventually strolled “home” about 75 yards to the front door of our Marriott. We have to get to sleep as breakfast and bags are at 7am and the bus leaves at 8:15.
COPPER CANYON TOMORROW. And we get to stay for TWO nights!

What fun! I can’t’ believe it was 54 years ago that I visited those ruins! Everything you see from there on will be new to me. Can not wait to see what’s next! 🖖🏼🌈❤️

I’m guessing the beautiful museum was not there then? How did you like my shell comment?

What an Adventure this has been and we are just at the beginning. I felt at home with the other rule Breaker, Panco Villa. For me this trip has been so much in getting in touch with my roots. Thank You Baby for us sharing this together. And this is just the beginning. Sooo Adventure On, what a blast.
