Oh, what a glorious free morning we savored on our 2nd day in Cairns! Because we didn’t do the morning optional tour, we left the hotel at 1 pm. I needed the extra time to write yesterday’s blog, have a leisurely brunch, and sort myself. Ivonne and I visited Saint Monica’s Catholic church across the street to see their unique and gorgeous stained glass windows.

Our tour today was the Skyrail Experience and small village of Kuranda in the OLDEST Rainforest on the planet, the Daintree Rainforest.
The village of Kuranda was started by hippies in the 60’s and still has that hippie feel.

Since we didn’t have a lot of time to stroll, we made a beeline to the attraction we were both very excited to experience ….

Since koalas sleep about 20 hours a day, he was snoozy until the keeper played some animal sounds and he would perk right up! We also have the pro photo they shot, but it was nice they did this with my camera.

We made our way to the Skyrail and WOW! What an impressive feeling to soar above this massive and very old rainforest. It’s been in existence since dinosaur times!!

The Skyrail is privately owned by an environmentally conscious family from Cairns. They built the rail using only helicopters because it IS impossible to access anything by ground.

We spent time with Ranger Peter (Wells??) and walked and learned more than my brain can absorb or even fathom. Marty, I needed you with me to remind me when dinosaurs went extinct!

It was such a humid day, and I was “glistening”. But we all had to go with the flow, and we went straight to our dinner along the waterfront at Dundees. After my Ceasar Salad and this, I felt much better ….

I can’t believe I’ve misplaced my socks, so Ivonne and I went to Woolworths to buy 3 pairs. They will be great golf socks, too!
We need to get to bed because we have to be in the lobby tomorrow at 5:15 AM to fly 3 hours to Uluru (Ayers Rock)!!!!! Can you say night shower and organizing????

65 million years ago! Big rock hit the earth!!
Humidity sucks! The only thing I did not like about Bali!
So cool that you get to see Uluru up close!
Love to you both!
