THAT’S A WRAP (of Australia and New Zealand)

written from home on Thursday, April 17, 2025

What a super blessing to safely land in Tucson 20 minutes early at 6:30pm on Wednesday, April 16th. There truly is NO PLACE LIKE HOME.

Gratefully, my home was like I never left. Oh, one thing on my back patio got caught in in the wind and the pot broke, but it was a fake plant so no big deal! I also was very surprised when I couldn’t remember my computer password this morning. That’s how much I unplugged from this reality during the trip. And I can’t recommend NO JET LAG pills enough for long-haul flights. They are all natural, are available on Amazon, and they are a complete God-send.

I did a little research and figured out that over 12 flights (count ’em, 12!!) in 16 days we flew 21,277 miles. If one were to fly around the planet at the equator, it would total 24,901 miles. WE ALMOST MADE IT! We were short only 3,624 miles! It makes me appreciate Dennis’ stamina even more as when he was flying a lot for OIS, he was a MILLION MILER WITH UNITED. He’d always say that’s a lot of BIS time (butt in seat).

The BEST part about the trip was the people with which we traveled. Everyone was around or close to our age, was well-traveled, and very open hearted. I guess that would be a prerequisite to take an extensive trip like this one. Funny thing though …. about half-way through the trip we all looked at each other and said …. I didn’t realize there would be 12 flights! But we all survived with a good attitude and supported each other.

I’d like to thank my travel partner, Ivonne, for being such a great roomie. We were very considerate of each other, shared our room spaces well, and she even put up with my snoring. Thanks, sweetie. And thank you Beth Ann … my friend, neighbor, and travel agent. It is so comforting to know that you always have my back.

What’s next? Anyone who knows me well is aware that my feelings about traveling vary from moment to moment. As of right now, just short of 24 hours from returning home, I feel excited to go somewhere again. But not during the summer. I want to be here to enjoy the warm weather and my backyard. But come this Fall ……..

After this epic trip, I am acutely aware of my age, my body, my interests, and my time left. CARPE MOMENTO means even more to me today.

If you’re looking for a travel partner, please keep me in mind. And THANK YOU for sharing this trip with me.

THE BEST IS YET TO COME!

Almost around the world, on a plane? Holy cow! That’s a lot of air travel. So glad you had a great trip and made it home safely. XO

    1. Wait …. do the math with me. But if Dennis was a Million Miler, then doesn’t that mean he flew around the world more than FORTY (40) times in his lifetime????

      HE DESERVES PEACE NOW.
