… was our last full day of this incredible journey.
This was the day of The Blue Lagoon! I was sort of hoping that the volcano in the area would erupt so we’d get to soak while watching the eruption. Of course, the Lagoon could also close. But after learning about Grindavik, I realized the seriousness of living close to a volcano.
This town of 3000 residents mostly made their money in the fishing industry. However, in November 2023, the seismic activity greatly increased and created 7 fissures under the town. Street after street of lovely homes were unlivable. The government bought their homes for 90% of their value, but then these poor people had to evacuate.

Being a Taurus and so tied to hearth and home, I cannot even imagine the pain these people went through being FORCED to leave, some of whom had just bought their home.

We drove through the town and saw what looked like The Twilight Zone. Of course there are always those who refuse to leave. But WHEN it happens, they will lose EVERYTHING.
The Blue Lagoon is close to Grindavik so that was our next stop.
The Lagoon complex is bigger than I expected with a hotel, spa and restaurant. Of course we had only 2 hours to visit so we didn’t see it all.
Showering naked is a must before entering the water, so my friends know that was not an issue for me. And getting TO the water from the main building is close, so it didn’t feel cold.

Being the last day, we headed back to the hotel for some free time to get ourselves organized.
We all gathered for our final briefing and farewell dinner. We ate at our hotel and the lamb was super tender and delicious.

And we had to say goodbye to those who had early morning flights the next day. I was so grateful that my flight didn’t leave until later on Friday.
By the way, I did get home safely by midnight on Friday. I was awake for 26 hours!!
And let me tell you …. I AM WORN OUT.

What an adventure you took us on!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I did 2 of those masks! Just wish they would have removed some wrinkles! 🤣 Yes, reentry was BIG today but I ran out of gas around 2pm.

I hope you and eric really consider visiting Iceland. Not only is it physically beautiful, but their attitude about life and acceptance of all people is inspiring.
