… and a first for me. Not only am I going on a week-long cruise by myself, but this is a VEGAN cruise! Who would have ever thought? NOT ME!
Maybe you’ve read about the Holistic Holidays at Sea. I’ve been intrigued with the idea, especially since in the past (truth admitted), our cruises have been FAR from holistic (can you say too much fun?)
But turning 72 this April has given me pause, and it seems like THE time to branch out. And after travelling to Iceland on my own last September … this feels pretty easy.
I’m embarking on Sunday, March 1st, out of Galveston, TX, on the MSC Seascape, for a week. Needless to say, I’m EXTEMELY grateful we won’t be sailing towards Puerto Vallarta, but the Yucatan instead. The recent unrest in Puerto Vallarta hurts my heart, but that’s karma. My prayers to all involved; I know this too, shall pass.
Here’s my ship:

See me waving from the 12th deck? I HOPE YOU DON’T!
It looks WAY too crazy big for me, and it has lots of kid stuff on top (and inside). But there will be adult stuff, too, as always. But MAINLY, I am doing this for the education of veganism. And of course enjoying a stateroom with a balcony and 3 days at sea. ~ Aaaaaahhhhhh ~
Here’s our itinerary across the Gulf of MEXICO …

A few days ago, they sent us a menu of our choices for our vegan meals. And I have to say, it doesn’t look bad at all! If you’re interested in seeing the menu and the presentations being offered, please let me know and I’ll send you the info. Yes, I’ll have WiFi on the cruise.
You might remember that Dennis and I lived the vegan lifestyle for 3 weeks at Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida in September 2018. The first week sucked (taste wise to us), but then weeks 2-3 were delicious! Isn’t that just the way it goes; our opinions can be narrow and set. We get so stuck in our own ways that it’s challenging to branch out. But we did try it, we intended to live the vegan lifestyle after we returned, but life had a different trajectory for us. I’m willing to try again.
Bottom line: I enjoy vegan cuisine when someone else is preparing it for me.
So, we will see how this adventure goes. I won’t promise to post this trip because I’ll be very engaged in sessions all day. However, I ALSO PLAN on enjoying the ship, especially THE WHITE PARTY on Wednesday! I have my whites, and those who know me, know that I have no problem dancing on my own!
LIFE IS SHORT. Get out there and try something new!

I do NOT expect to have a balcony this extravagant, nor will I look this young (I was 53!!). But I do look forward to enjoying continental breakfast on my balcony each morning, and sitting under the full moon on March 3rd.

Have a fabulous time and wonderful food! Safe travels, dear friend!

Dear Diana,
It was such fun to spend some time with you last evening. Thank you for incorporating the bon voyage party into your travel plans!
I really liked what you wrote here; I think you are going to have fun tasting different foods on the cruise, and just enjoying yourself, whether on your own or hanging out with new friends. And I am super excited for your dance party… Wednesday is actually my birthday! So dance it out big. 😉
Take care, and thank you so much for supporting pcrm’s work so generously. You are making a big impact, and it is saving animals’ lives (and some human lives as well). xoxoxo
