We have reached Livorno, Italy

… on Sunday, May 10th.  This port is the jumping off spot for Pisa/Florence/Tuscany.  And of course like ANY trip, not everything goes as planned.

We DID have a reservation for a 9-hour day visiting Florence, but found out early in the week it was canceled.   My wonderful friend and travel agent found us a private solution, but we all decided against it.  And as luck would have it, we woke up to our first real rain of the trip.

That mega ship next to us only holds 300 passengers!!!
Pool is obviously closed

Anyone who knows me, knows that half way through a big trip, I run out of gas.  So the timing was perfect for a down day.

It was a surprise to discover the toilet wouldn’t flush!  Thankfully it was fixed rather quickly, but it is another example of how other people’s poor choices can affect your own.

Ivonne and I had Eggs Benedict in the main dining room for breakfast, and then returned to our cabin to chill. And I will admit, IT WAS WONDERFUL!

Ivonne had a massage at 2pm and I used the time to rest, catch up on the blog, do some laundry, and get organized.  Lynda and Pete took a taxi into town.

Don’t mind the mess

Ivonne and I enjoyed another dinner at The Red Ginger and then the final show afterwards.  Got to bed rather late so sleep is precious and needed.  A nap may be in my future tomorrow on the last full day of the cruise.

P.S.  We heard from a fellow passenger who DID go into Florence that it was MISERABLE.  An umbrella was a constant companion and it was dark and miserable.   So grateful I passed on going.
