Thursday in Halifax

How blessed to dock with this view!  This is one of the 2 citadels that were never necessary.

Our excursion today started at 11:30 so we had a long and leisurely morning before enjoying our 20 minute walk down the boardwalk.

This is called The Immigrant.
The waterfront is very clean and colorful
I didn’t even CONSIDER riding this wave
I had to take this for Peter Wells
We had an hour long tour on this refurbished Viet Nam era amphibious vehicle
Halifax enjoys a very deep harbor that never freezes
There’s a lot of unique artwork all along the boardwalk
Especially this …. the 2 piece light in the foreground is titled “Got drunk and fell down”.  Look closely!
Had to try the famous Beavertail.  Grateful we SPLIT this apple pie flavor
THEN Cows ice cream …. decadent day for sure

We also visited the Maritime Museum.  It was rather sobering seeing the Titanic exhibit AND learning about the 1917 Halifax Explosion, which was 4 times more destructive than the San Francisco earthquake and 10 times worse than the Chicago fire.  Hard to imagine ….

I intend to read this book when I get home.

We returned to the ship and prepared ourselves for the Halloween festivities.

I surprised Beth Ann and brought some things from home

Our dinner tonight was progressive style with small bites from the buffet and then sushi.

Check out the Hamachi Taco!  Quite good!

Beth Ann had another meeting the next morning so she returned to our cabin to prepare.  I was hoping to watch the Halloween costume competition, but couldn’t find anywhere to sit or stand.  So I found a distant seat and worked on this post before the comedic show.  He was worth the wait as the comic gave me some good belly laughs.

Friday is our last full day on the ship, and I’m grateful we are at  sea,  bound for Brooklyn.  I want to just soak in the sea before we return to The Big Apple for 4 nights in the financial district.

What an epic trip this has been.   And the weather?  It will be in the 70’s in NYC, with rain starting Wednesday evening, immediately following our afternoon flight!

My mantra has worked beautifully this trip.

Wow! Looked up the Halifax Explosion. My goodness! What a disaster!! I had never heard of it. Interesting that it lead to a major advertisement in injured eye care.

Love the little devil horns and mouse ears!

You have been so blessed with the weather!

    Love, Marty

    1. I was clueless as well. In the museum was a man who was two years old playing at his windowsill when it happened. The window blew in and blinded him. He still became a mechanic.
